Pedometers

Dear Teresa,

Thanks for taking my question. I am a college Health and Physical Education professor who is just now thinking of using pedometers in the classroom. I am interested in finding websites similar to the one I see on PE Central for Elementary school children. It would allow college students to individually log steps, compete as a class, etc.

Where might I find such a site(s)?

Many thanks,
Scott

Scott,

If you don't want to use Log It, then I would suggest EveryStepCounts.com. Your college students will be able to log steps and soon with the use of the NL-1000 they'll also be able to see if they are meeting the recommendation set by ACSM and the CDC for minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity. That's the one problem we've had thus far with logging only steps--the CDC does not recognize any step recommendation, and it doesn't appear to be something that they are willing to change anytime soon.
