Staying Active with Buddy

Student take home the "Buddy Bag" for the weekend. They do something active at home with Buddy. Then they write about it in the journal and either draw a picture of them in action with Buddy, or they can have someone take a photo of them in action with Buddy and attach it to the journal.

There is also a grade level appropriate book in the bag that is related to physical activity. The students are encouraged to either read the book themselves, or read it with their parents.

When they return the "Buddy Bag" the following Monday, We all read their entry with their classmates, to share different ideas about being active outside of school.

I make sure to call the families of the student that will be bringing home the "Buddy Bag" so they know that this is coming home. That way, when their child starts playing with this strange stuffed animal, they know what is going on. This has also prompted parents to join in with their children being active!
