Millemmium Club

Since it is the Millennium, and our school name is Lemm, I named the fitness club the Millemmium Club. Students are striving to obtain 2000 aerobic exercise minutes during the school year. Since the activity has to raise the heart rate for at least 20 minutes, this should take the average person 100 days to complete. Students are encouraged to participate in aerobic activities either individually, or with their family members.

Most of this is to be done outside of school. Students fill out a form with the date, activity, minutes of exercise, and an adults signature on it. The activity must be aerobic, and at least 20 minutes in length. They bring in the form, and log it in a Millemmium Club notebook under their own log sheet. As they gain minutes toward the 2000 minute goal, they earn awards.

  • For 500 minutes, they earn 5 Lemm Stars to use on Star Day (a reward day).

  • For 1000 minutes, they earn a certificate.

  • For 1500 minutes, they earn a large blue ribbon.

  • For 2000 minutes, they earn a medal.

Also, for each level, they get a colored star put up on the wall in the hall. The 2000 minute members have big gold stars with their pictures on it so that others will know who they are. As of Dec. 1, 1999 we have about 60 in the 500 zone, 30 in the blue zone, 17 in the silver zone, and 10 in the 2000 zone. We also encourage teachers to participate.
